I- Diffusion and Osmosis
- Make sure you know vocabulary such as: hydrophobic, hydrophillic, phospholipid bilayer, active transport, passive transport, endocytosis, exocytosis, diffusion, osmosis, hypertonic, hypotonic, isotonic etc.
- Analyze diffusion diagrams and determine if molecules are moving through active or passive transport
- Predict what will happen to cells if placed in hypertonic and hypotonic solutions
- Identify the proteins, lipids and carbohydrates in the cell membrane
- Identify the types of molecules that go through the different types of proteins in the cell membrane
- What are the functions of the cell membrane?
II- Cell cycle (mitosis and meiosis)
- What is DNA, chromatin, chromosome?
- What are the parts of the chromosome?
- What is the cell cycle, which types of cell do mitosis, and why do they go through this process?
- What is meiosis and which types of cells go through this process?
- Compare and contrast mitosis and meiosis
- Look at diagrams and identify the different phases in mitosis and meiosis
